MDA is the runner-up in the first IFR Champions Cup

A seven-a-side team representing the Malta Developers Association was the runner-up in the first IFR Champions Cup – Malta, held earlier this month at the Mara Sports Grounds.

IFR stands for iGaming, Fintech and Real Estate and the tournament was organised for a selection of local and foreign iGaming, Fintech and Real Estate companies to raise funds for Puttinu Cares and the ALS Foundation.

The perception of the inter-relatedness of the three industries served as the baseline for the idea of the organisers to hold the tournament. Their aim was to invite the top-performing companies from the three sectors, both locally and internationally.

Thirty-two companies an d organisations contested the first edition of the IFR Champions Cup on local soil. Each match lasted 24 minutes and there was a Group stage, Knockout phase, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, Third-Place Playoff, and the Grand Final, which MDA contested with eventual winners Croserb Ltd, a company from Croatia and Serbia.

The MDA team was sponsored by GAP Ltd, which made the team’s participation possible, coached by Council Member Pierre Galea, who is responsible for many of the MDA’s CSR-related initiatives including get-togethers and social events. Thanks are also due to MDA President Sandro Chetcuti, who provided moral support and was present for all the matches.
