In an election that was concluded on 20th February 2021, the MDA’s Estate Agents Section (EAS) appointed its new council for the forthcoming year. Michael Bonello, CEO of Alliance Group, has been elected to head the section with a Council composed of Steve Merceica (Zanzi & Quicklets) as Vice-President, Bernard Mangion (Ben Estates) as Treasurer, Cecil McCarthy (Twenty Four Real Estate) as Secretary and members Joseph Caruana Curran (Remax Executives) and Alan Grima (Dhalia), together with David Aquilina (Belair), who was co-opted as member on the Council.
On his new appointment to head the EAS, Michael Bonello expressed his satisfaction with the news and thanked the council members for their unanimous vote approving his nomination. “I’m honoured by your full support and very excited to be heading the EAS at this point in time when estate agents are getting licencing for the very first time.” Mr Bonello explained, and went on to express his eagerness to work closely with his colleagues, to make the most of this transition period and tackle other industry challenges through the collective action of the Council.
Welcoming the announcement, the President of the MDA, Sandro Chetcuti said: “The MDA, through the EAS, is today the largest Association representing estate agents on the island, and significant progress has been made to make a quality leap forward in this important service to the industry at large”. Mr Chetcuti went on to thank the outgoing Section Head Mr Douglas Salt for his personal dedication to the industry, which achieved significant tangible results, and said that he was sure that the EAS under Mr Bonello’s stewardship will continue to achieve more.
The MDA’s Director General, Marthese Portelli also congratulated the new Council and said that she was sure that through EAS’s support, the Malta Developers Association will continue to further raise the bar in the crucial property and real estate industry.
