The Malta Developers Association has joined the Government in the setting up of the Property Malta Foundation, as set out in the 2017 Budget. The deed of the foundation, which is made up of four trustees nominated by the MDA and four trustees nominated by the Government, was signed on 21 March, 2017.
The trustees are MDA President Sandro Chetcuti, Hon. Secretary Michael Stivala and Council Members Alfred Camilleri and Michael Bonello; those nominated by the Government are Vincent Bone, Peter Caruana, Mario Falzon and Antoine Mallia.
Among the foundation’s aims and objects are to:
Property Malta Foundation held its first meeting today, presided by Minister for Competitiveness and Digital, Maritime and Services EconomyEmanuel Mallia at the Ministry in Valletta.
Dr Mallia explained that, in line with Budget Measure 165, the foundation was being established to act as a catalyst to encourage foreigners to purchase and invest in our islands. “Property Malta will be actively promoting our islands internationally to attract investors to buy holiday homes and establish themselves in Malta,” he said.
“Thanks to the input of the industry and our own guidance, I am confident that the Property Malta Foundation will be a success,” Dr Mallia added.
Mr Chetcuti expressed satisfaction that the foundation had been set up after the Association had been working on this initiative for the past two and a half years. “I am confident that the Property Malta Foundation will fulfil its extensive remit and attract investment in the property market, enabling our country to achieve its full potential as an international residence of quality,” he said.
One of the foundation’s first tasks is to commission market studies of the local property industry and the international property market and to launch co-financing schemes to enable local companies to participate in international property fairs.
“We have ambitious plans for the Property Malta Foundation to pursue and we will be making further announcements in this area later on this year,” Mr Chetcuti concluded.

L-ewwel laqgħa tal-Fondazzjoni Proprjetà Malta
Il-Malta Developers Association (MDA) ingħaqdet mal-Gvern biex twaqqfet il-Fondazzjoni Proprjetà Malta, kif stabbilit fil-Budget 2017. L-att tal-fondazzjoni, li hi magħmula minn erba’ membri nominati mill-MDA u erba’ nominati mill-Gvern, ġie ffirmat fil-21 ta’ Marzu, 2017.
Il-membri tal-fondazzjoni nominati mill-MDA huma l-President Sandro Chetcuti, is-Segretarju Michael Stivala u l-Membri tal-Kunsill Alfred Camilleri u Michael Bonello; dawk nominati mill-Gvern huma Vincent Bone, Peter Caruana, Mario Falzon u Antoine Mallia.
Fost l-għanijiet u l-oġġettivi tal-fondazzjoni hemm li:

Dr Mallia spjega li twaqqfet il-fondazzjoni skont il-Miżura 165 tal-Budget biex tkun katalista biex tħeġġeġ il-barranin biex jixtru u jinvestu f’gżirietna. “Proprjetà Malta ser tippromwovi b’mod attiv gżirietna internazzjonalment biex tħeġġeġ investituri biex jixtru djar għal vakanzi u biex jistabbilixxu ruħhom f’Malta,” hu qal.
“Grazzi għall-input tal-industrija u taħt il-gwida tagħna stess, ninsab kunfidenti li Proprjetà Malta tkun suċċess,” żied jgħid Dr Mallia.
Is-Sur Chetcuti wera s-sodisfazzjon tiegħu li twaqqfet il-fondazzjoni wara li l-Assoċjazzjoni ilha taħdem fuq din l-inizjattiva għal dawn l-aħħar sentejn u nofs. “Ninsab kunfidenti li l-Fondazzjoni Proprjetà Malta tilħaq il-mandat estensiv tagħha u tattira investiment fis-suq tal-proprjetà u b’hekk il-pajjiż ikun jista’ jilħaq il-potenzjal tiegħu bħala residenza internazzjonali ta’ kwalità,” hu qal.
Il-fondazzjoni hija inkarigata tikkummissjona studji tal-industrija tal-proprjetà lokali u tas-suq tal-proprjetà internazzjonali u biex tvara skemi ta’ kofinanzjament biex b’hekk kumpaniji lokali jkunu jistgħu jieħdu sehem f’fieri tal-proprjetà internazzjonali.
“Għandna pjanijiet ambizzjużi għall-Fondazzjoni Proprjetà Malta u bi ħsiebna nħabbru affarijiet ġodda f’dan il-qasam iktar tard din is-sena,” temm jgħid is-Sur Chetcuti.
