PRESS RELEASE
The Malta Development Association (MDA) welcomes the announcement of a new joint digital portal to be developed through collaboration between the Planning Authority, the Building and Construction Authority, and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority. This initiative represents a positive and necessary step towards improving efficiency within Malta’s construction sector and reducing administrative burdens for both professionals and the public.
The MDA commends the efforts of the Ministry for Justice and Construction, the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, and all the authorities involved for driving forward this important reform. Greater coordination and digital integration between entities has long been needed, and this project signals a clear commitment towards modernising public services and facilitating processes across the industry.
While this development is encouraging, the MDA emphasises that further measures are required to meaningfully streamline procedures, eliminate duplication, and reduce unnecessary workload and costs that continue to impact the sector. Continued investment in digitalisation, simplification of regulatory frameworks, and stronger inter-agency coordination remain essential to achieving a better working environment.
The MDA reiterates its support for initiatives that enhance transparency, efficiency, and collaboration, and looks forward to contributing constructively to further reforms in the sector.
