MDA considers the Budget to be positive

The Malta Developers Association considers the 2016 Budget announced this evening to be very positive and one that will continue to strengthen the property market and the economy generally.

The Budget shows that the Government is looking at Malta’s economic future in a manner that is outside the limits that governments normally work, that is, outside the box.

The Government announced measures that hit the economic sectors that needed to be addressed and in this way the Budget’s impact will be felt by both small and large businesses, while the needs of those on low incomes are also being addressed.

The MDA is satisfied that the government accepted a number of its suggestions, including the proposals for fiscal measures to help foster the regeneration of our Urban Conservation Areas, and the introduction of a final withholding tax on income from commercial leases.

The MDA also notes with pleasure that the exemption on the payment of stamp duty on the purchase of property by first time buyers which the MDA had requested in previous years, is going to be extended for another year.

L-MDA tqis il-Baġit bħala wieħed pożittiv

Il-Malta Developers Association (MDA) tqis il-Baġit għas-sena 2016 li tħabbar illejla bħala wieħed pożittiv ħafna u wieħed li se jkompli jsaħħaħ is-suq tal-proprjetà u l-ekonomija b’mod ġenerali.

Il-Baġit juri li l-Gvern qed iħares lejn il-futur ekonomiku ta’ Malta b’mod ’l barra mill-limiti li fihom soltu jaħdmu l-gvernijiet, jiġifieri outside the box.

Il-Gvern ħabbar miżuri li jolqtu s-settur tal-ekonomija li kellhom bżonn ikunu ndirizzati u b’hekk l-impatt tal-Baġit sejjer jinħass fost in-negozji kemm żgħar u kbar, filwaqt li l-bżonnijiet ta’ min għandu dħul baxx ġew indirizzati wkoll.

L-MDA hi sodisfatta li l-gvern laqa’ numru ta’ suġġerimenti tagħha, fosthom il-proposti għal miżuri fiskali li jgħinu biex iwasslu għar-riġenerazzjoni tal-inħawi qodma fl-ibliet tagħna (Urban Conservation Areas), u l-introduzzjoni tat-taxxa finali – Final Withholding Tax – fuq id-dħul mill-kiri ta’ postijiet kummerċjali.

L-MDA tieħu gost tinnota wkoll li l-eżenzjoni mill-ħlas tal-boll fuq xiri ta’ proprjetà minn dawk li se jkunu jixtru dar għall-ewwel darba – first time buyers – li kienet talba tal-MDA fis-snin imgħoddija, se tiġi estiża għal sena oħra.
