Successful DC2015 Information session

The Malta Developers Association (MDA), in conjunction with the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) and the Kamra tal-Periti (KTP), held a successful information session on the Development Control Design Policy, Guidance and Standards 2015 (DC2015) at the Dolmen Hotel, Qawra, on Tuesday, 1 December, 2015.

The theme of DC2015 is Creating ‘Successful’ Streets. DC15 is a clear departure from a single classification of policy provisions found in previous DC publications. The policy document heralds in a new contextual design framework that distinguishes between different qualities and elements that comprise urban and architectural design.

DC15 initiates a vibrant purpose where every design project cannot be created and assessed in isolation but must be seen within the totality of its immediate context, which in most cases constitute the street. In DC15, streets are not only transitional spaces but more importantly are social places that are vital to the success of the overall workings of an urban settlement.

The speakers at the information session were: MEPA Chairman Perit Vincent Cassar, Kamra tal-Periti President Perit Christopher Mintoff, MDA President Sandro Chetcuti, MEPA CEO Johann Buttigieg, and Perit Victor Sladden from MEPA, who led the DC2015 initiative.
