MDA satisfied with new MEPA tariffs

The Malta Developers Association (MDA) welcomes with satisfaction the measures that have just been announced to lower Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) tariffs.
This was one of the MDA’s main requests since it always maintained that the tariff structure should reflect the direct costs of MEPA’s service to applicants for permits and not as a means to raise money for other MEPA work that has nothing to do with the development application.
The MDA appreciates the fact that Government has addressed this issue immediately and took action straight away to ensure that justice is done and the construction sector is stimulated.
This measure will positively affect first-time buyers and whoever invests in commercial property, which increases jobs.
The MDA is going to work earnestly so that confidence will once more be restored in the construciton sector without creating an artificial bubble through abuse or lack of sustainable planning.
