MDA favours strengthening of the law for better protection against fire hazards

Thursday, February 22nd, 2018

The Malta Developers Association welcomes in the most positive manner the news announced by Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg that laws on protection against fires in buildings are to be consolidated as part of the reform in the construction sector.

As the Minister rightly said, the law on security against fires in buildings is currently sporadic and fragmented, and the MDA feels that this reform, which will enable the law to be strengthened in this area, is urgently needed.

MDA considers CHOGM an outstanding opportunity for all the Maltese

While the Malta Developers Association (MDA) is looking forward in great anticipation to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Malta later this week, it warns against any alarmism that could do more damage than needless over-caution.

“We want to give the best welcome possible to all those who will be in Malta for this momentous CHOGM, firm in the island’s reputation of neutrality that we are a safe haven for all,” the MDA said in a statement.

The MDA appeals to the government to ensure it takes all the precautions necessary in the interests of the country’s security and for everyone to co-operate to ensure that, just as in 2005 when Malta acquitted itself admirably, so too in 2015 once again the event will be a resounding success.

Malta stands to reap a great dividend, further reinforcing the positive feeling there is for the country worldwide. CHOGM is a great opportunity for the country from which every citizen can benefit greatly, the MDA added.

L-MDA tqis li ċ-CHOGM hi opportunità eċċellenti għall-Maltin kollha

Waqt li l-Malta Developers Association (MDA) tistenna bil-ħerqa għall-Laqgħa tal-Kapijiet tal-Gvern tal-Commonwealth (CHOGM) f’Malta iktar tard din il-ġimgħa, twissi kontra xi allarmiżmu li tista’ tagħmel iktar ħsara minn kawtela żejda mingħajr bżonn.

“Irridu nagħtu l-aħjar merħba possibbli lil dawk kollha li ser ikunu f’Malta għal dan iċ-CHOGM ferm importanti, sodi fil-fehma li permezz tar-reputazzjoni tal-pajjiż tan-newtralità aħna noffru kenn sikur għal kulħadd,” l-MDA qalet fi stqarrija.

L-MDA tappella lill-gvern biex jassigura li jieħu l-prekawzjonijiet kollha meħtieġa fl-interessi tas-sigurtà tal-pajjiż u biex kulħadd jikkoopera biex nassiguraw li, kif fl-2005 meta Malta ħarġet bl-unuri, hekk ukoll fl-2015 mill-ġdid dan l-avveniment ikun suċċess kbir.

Malta għandha taħsad benefiċċju kbir li ssaħħaħ iktar is-sentiment pożittiv li hemm għall-pajjiż madwar id-dinja. Iċ-CHOGM hi opportunità kbira għall-pajjiż li minnha kull ċittadin jista’ jibbenefika ferm, żiedet tgħid l-MDA.
